ICT820 - New
Contactless In-Cylinder Linear Transducer – CAN SAE J1939 output

The ICT820 Contactless In-Cylinder Linear Transducer combines the best features associated with LVDTs and potentiometers into one rugged, contactless and highly reliable displacement transducer with the addition of a CAN SAE J1939 interface.

Signal conditioning is integrated into the transducer flange.

Operating from 8 - 30Vdc or 5Vdc supply, the electronics provide a CAN SAE J1939 output over the selected transducer measurement range.

With a transducer body diameter of only 8mm the ICT820 is ideal for installation into hydraulic and pneumatic cylinder applications where space is at a premium. The ICT820 is ideal for use on small-bore actuators and offers a choice of internal or threaded external flange mounting configurations to suit tie-rod, welded and rear clevis-mounted cylinder 
types in stroke ranges from 25 to 1000mm. Two core configurations also provide the designer the following options:

SLEEVED CORE - cylinder rods can be simply machined to accommodate the sleeve. This also gives the option of retro-fitting existing servo-cylinders with an upgrade to ICT technology.

THREADED CORE - provides the designer with the minimum transducer body size and simplified installation requiring minimal machining.

With no electrical sliding contacts, the ICT820 has a working life which is almost limitless.

Responding to customer demand, Penny+Giles has developed this competitively priced linear position sensor for the motorsport industry.

Available in eight stroke lengths from 25 to 200mm, the MLS130 is sealed to IP66, and is supplied ready fitted with a DR25 sheathed, 3-core cable integrally moulded into the sensor. This eliminates the need for users to fit 'heat-shrink' over-sleeving more commonly required on other sensors.

A choice of three mountings are available, including M5 metal rod-end bearings at both ends of the sensor. An auxiliary protective sleeve can also be supplied that allows the sensor to endure multiple race use in all weather conditions.

The MLS130 uses the proven hybrid track technology, which provides virtually infinite resolution and a long track life. This high reliability absolute position sensor reduces the need for regular maintenance and re-calibration, with no loss of position information in the event of a system power loss.

The Penny+Giles Hall Effect Linear Sensor - SLH100 - has been specifically designed to provide precision cost-effective position sensing, using the proven contactless Hall effect principle.

The sensing system comprises two parts: the sensor and the magnetic activator.

The sensor is a fully encapsulated electronic device and is intended to compete with sealed potentiometers and inductive sensors.  The sensor can be used for a variety of automotive, industrial vehicle, marine and control applications.

Contactless Linear Position Transducer

The SLT190 linear position transducer is designed to provide reliable, fit-and-forget position sensing (up to 500mm) within a compact transducer size for the most arduous operating environments.

The SLT190 has been designed with 21st century applications in mind. The transducer can operate in temperatures from -40 to +150°C and has been tested to withstand shocks to 10,000g. With EMC Immunity of 100V/m, this transducer is ready for the harshest of applications.

To minimise the transducer size and the impact on the overall system, we provide separate signal conditioning electronics (EICT or EICTM) housed in rugged IP66 or IP68 rated enclosures. The electronics module can be located up to 10m away from the transducer, well away from any hostile conditions (vibration, mechanical impact, temperature) that the position transducer may encounter during operation. The result is a more reliable transducer solution, easily installed and adjusted and more flexible in the choice of outputs available - including voltage, current and digital PWM.
